Are There Any Good Websites Out There For Choosing Exterior Paint?

I am getting ready to close on a house and I am trying to find some really pretty choices for exterior paint. It is an old home from the 1890s and it sits right in front of the golf course so I do not want it to be too ancient looking I want a modern look to it too, I guess.
I am trying to search the internet for some really neat color choices as far the exterior goes. Right now, it is just the plain old big white house with black shutters(which is beautiful) but I think I want something that is going to make the hosue pop. Whats some new colors that people are doing with their houses. I would like any ideas that I can kick around or even a good website! Thanks guys!

How To Paint Old Wood Shutters?

I have 14 panels of brown window wood shutters I’d like to paint white. The surface finish is weathered, rough, and probably needs to be sanded first. Is it something I can do myself, and would all the individual slats need to be dismantled? I am on a budget but don’t know if this is a job better left for professionals.

We’re painting our house and I’m looking to go with a grey base, white trim, and black shutters but I can’t find the right grey. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m not limited to Behr, but I wanna be able to go to Home Depot or Lowes and look at the color swatch.

My bedroom is relatively small… My furniture is kind of white/cream colored and there is a chair rail going all the way around my room, bordering the door, windows, and closet. there are also interior window shutters that are kind of old.
I would like my room to be either a shade of blue or green. I don’t know if the two colors would look good together…
have any opinions?

Although wooden shutters have been around for many years longer than that of vinyl, not all homeowners want to use the old time favorite for their home anymore.

There are so many reasons why homeowners choose wood over vinyl shutters and vice versa. A large percentage of homeowners who choose to stick with wooden shutters are due in part to the style and age of their home.

If a homeowner occupies a well kept 20th or even 19th century home, they typically won’t choose vinyl as their homes exterior shutter because they want to stay true to their home’s era.

However, anymore it can be quite hard to tell the difference between wooden and vinyl shutters due to vinyl’s authentic wood grain appearance which makes it hard to tell if it’s wood or vinyl.

As with most things in life, both wood and vinyl shutters have their advantages and disadvantages. Some advantages of vinyl shutters are that they are very durable, hold up to most any extreme weather conditions and vinyl is typically much cheaper than that of their wooden counterparts.

Disadvantages of vinyl shutters, depending on personal preference, vinyl shutters don’t appear quite as attractive as wooden shutters. Vinyl is also not a good choice if a color change in wanted ever so often since vinyl doesn’t hold paint as well as wooden shutters, nor is it stainable.

Wooden shutters too have their downfalls, such as higher price, manufacturing times and greater chances of deterioration than that of vinyl. Not everyone minds paying more for wooden shutters when quality and custom appearance are important factors. However, when dealing with wooden shutters a homeowner should be aware that wood shutters are bound to deteriorate over time.

If the wood shutters are constructed well and made of a quality wood, they should last many, many years, but only if the homeowner maintains proper care of the shutters. Wooden shutters last the longest when properly cleaned and paint every few years, which is something vinyl owners need not worry about since vinyl does not deteriorate like that of natural wood.

Wood being the old time favorite also has advantages that some find to outweigh the perks of vinyl. Wooden shutters, when made with high quality material and craftsmanship, are very durable, they can be painted or stained almost any color imaginable and create an appearance that vinyl can’t quite top.

When it comes to needing 100% custom shutters made, wood may be the only option, depending on the exact size(s) needed. Although vinyl shutters are available in many, many sizes, wooden shutters are available in any size imaginable, even down to a 1/16”.

What Color Should I Paint The Back Room?

I have this back room. It is huge. It has six windows with white 2 inch wood blinds. And two french doors with mini white blinds. My furniture is tan/brown with pasley print embedded in a darker brownish/tannish color. The walls are currently whitish grayish. I have white ceramic tile. I hate it. It is nice and bright, but feels cold. I desperately need new furniture, tv stand, etc, but I thought I would start off with the walls. What color do you think I should paint them? Links to Home Depot or Lowes with paint sample would be appreciated. PS My kitchen area which is separated between the big room by french doors as well has black cabinets and the same white ceramic tile. It sounds horrible but looks really good. PS We Spend most of our time in this room and we currently do not have any rugs or anything hanging on the walls.
